The Interim Government has welcomed the move by the Canadian government to review the Kava ban on Fiji after the European Union decided to lift the ban on kava.

Interim Minister for Primary Industries, Joketani Cokanasiga said this move can bring brighter days for the kava industry.

He said he met with Fiji's High Commissioner in London earlier this month, who told him that he is closely monitoring the attitudes of the Europeans towards Kava.

Cokanasiga said that plans are underway to develop the Kava Industry Council in Fiji and address the issues surrounding it and they would be able to come up with a structure for the Kava Industry Council before the middle of next year.

He said the Kava Industry is a lucrative market and will benefit the people of Kadavu, Vanua Levu, Naitasiri and people in the Central Division.
