Laisenia Qarase said Commodore Frank Bainimarama's statement is very unfortunate and unbecoming of someone in a leadership position.
While launching the Draft People's Charter Process last night, Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama said since Independence in 1970, Fiji has had 10 elected Parliaments adding that these parliaments have a sad and dismal record on nation building.
Bainimarama said the 10 parliaments have divided people through their rhetoric inside the Parliament and outside and that they exploited the race based electoral systems.
He added they campaigned for elections on race, on our differences, on our fears and our prejudices.
