The National Federation Party said the comments by Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama that if politicians do not agree with the formation of the People's Charter, there will be no elections in March next year, is blackmail.
General Secretary Pramod Rae said this is also a clear indication that the Interim Government is in no hurry to restore democracy in the country.
Rae said we need to go to polls as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the Interim Prime Minister reiterated that the interim government and the military want the people of Fiji, including politicians and Church leaders to support the Charter, since they believe that the Charter will eradicate the problems faced by the country.
He said the people of Fiji should accept that the military took over the government and if Fiji wants to move forward, the people should support what the interim government has been doing.
