Interim PM warns FNA Members protesting outside cabinet will be arrested
Commodore Bainimarama said the protesters will be part of an illegal gathering and FNA General Secretary, Kuini Lutua should not mislead the nurses.
A group of striking nurses are now planning to gather outside the Government Buildings.
Although Kuini Lutua has refused to reveal any further information on how long they are planning to protest outside the cabinet office, she confirms that they will take the step.
We have received information that Lutua and FNA President, Simione Racolo left the FNA headquarters in the last hour and advised the members that they will go to the Government Buildings when they return. The two have just returned and are still at the picketing site.
Assistant Police Commissioner Operations, Kuata Siqila has just told us that a FNA member contacted him a few minutes ago on whether they can protest outside the cabinet office and they have been told that they will be arrested. The FNA has now said that they will decide their next step this hour.
Our reporters at the cabinet office also confirm that about 25 officers from the Police Tactical Response Unit are now at the Government Buildings.
The security measure has been taken to ensure that there are no breaches of the Public Order Act. Stay with us for developments.
