Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has today stressed that Indigenous Affairs portfolio will now be handled by him and he will ensure that measures are put in place to ensure that indigenous Fijians benefit from the resources they have.
Bainimarama denounces the statements by Ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and Rewa Chief Ro Teimumu Kepa that indigenous Fijians should be treated differently and given special treatment.
The Interim PM said his plan will ensure that indigenous Fijians do well in every sphere of their life rather than just waiting for handouts which they never receive, due to the abuse of the system by the elite Fijians.
Bainimarama said the interim cabinet has never made the statement that it would downgrade the Fijian Affairs Ministry.
