The Interim Prime Minister has strongly stated that the European Union officials should wait and find out the details on the alleged assassination plot before lashing out at the interim government.
Commodore Frank Bainimarama said it seems the EU is singling out Fiji and has not said much publicly about other countries who have human rights abuses.
The Presidency of the European Union has said that it remains concerned at the internal situation in Fiji, mainly reports of detentions perpetrated by authorities concerning an alleged plot against members of Fiji's Interim Government.
The European Union goes on to say that it notes with concern the alleged abuses perpetrated by the Military and Police on those arrested on suspicion of plotting to allegedly assassinate members of the interim government.
The EU calls on the interim government to respect the human rights of everyone in Fiji and urges the interim government to conduct a full investigation into these alleged human rights abuses in line with its commitments to the EU made in Brussels.
