Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has fulfilled his promises to the 5 villages in the Tikina of Noimalu in the interior of Naitasiri, to provide them with horses as a mean of transportation.

Bainimarama visited these villages last year and saw the difficulty these people are facing since they have to leave the village at 11pm to reach Wailoa at 6am to catch the bus to come to Suva.

Their only means of transport is by horseback and they urged the Bainimarama to provide them with more horses.

The Naitasiri Provincial Administrator’s Office in Vunidawa has confirmed that truck loads of horses bought from Sigatoka was transported up to the Tikina o Noimalu last week and villages were happy that Bainimarama has kept his promises to them.

The villages of Tuburua, Nasauvere, Nasava, Matawailevu, Narokorokoyawa and Nakurukuruvakatini had to cross the Waimala River 28 times to reach the main road.
