Interim PM Meets With Sir John
Commodore Bainimarama who is attending the 4th meeting of the ACP Ministers of Finance and Economic Affairs, told Sir John of his intentions to carry out reforms to create a level field for all the citizens of Fiji, and that elections will be held as soon as the reforms are completed.
He also stressed that the People's Charter for Change is designed to address the unfair policies practiced by the previous governments in the country.
Sir John told Bainimarama that this situation has allowed him to get the exact insight into Fiji's situation and expressed his desire to see Fiji move forward in the right path to achieve normalcy again.
He said that any reforms by the Interim government will help avoid having more coups in the country, and that the ACP is supportive of any plans to move the country forward. However he said that whether the proposed dates for the General Elections are acceptable to the European presidency and the European Commission is another matter.
Bainimarama will meet with the European Commission today.
