The Interim Prime Minister has been told about the need to divert the Labasa river towards the mouth of Naseakula River to avoid floods.

The recommendation has been made by the Senior Engineer Rural Land Water Resources Management stationed in Labasa, Frank Alhambra during his briefing to Commodore Frank Bainimarama.

Alhamdra said that the plan will cost the Interim government $22million and would better serve as a way to avoid flooding in Labasa in future.
