Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has agreed to attend the special Pacific Forum leaders meeting which will be held next month in Port Moresby.

The Post Courier reports that Bainimarama paid an unexpected courtesy visit to PNG Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare early Friday morning while travelling from Doha and Qatar from an aid conference. During his visit Commodore Bainimarama confirmed to Sir Micheal of his attendance at the forum.

He had breakfast and a courtesy meeting with Somare while transiting through Port Moresby and later Solomon Islands avoiding the Australian and New Zealand routes to get back to Fiji.

According to the Post Courier Sir Michael has been talking to Commodore Bainimarama on occasions, trying to convince him into allowing democracy again in Fiji especially holding elections in March next year.

The Pacific Islands Leaders Forum is expected to decide on whether Fiji should be suspended from the Leaders Forum and other measures if the interim government does not hold elections as soon as possible.
