The Interim Labour Minister is yet to make a decision on whether to refer the Fiji Nursing Association industrial dispute to compulsory arbitration.

When contacted last night, Bernadette Ganilau told Village that she is still working on the issue and will make a decision later this morning.

The Fiji Nursing Association is now awaiting a response from Ganilau before deciding whether to ask the student nurses who are FNA members to join their strike.

General Secretary Kuini Lutua confirmed last night that they sent the Interim Minister another letter late yesterday requesting that she make a decision as soon as possible. She claims that under the Trade Disputes Act, a strike by workers in the essential services sector must be referred to compulsory arbitration for a quick resolution.
