The Interim Government and the Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited stakeholders are remaining tightlipped on compensation discussions currently held in Nadi.

When contacted this afternoon, Permanent Secretary Commerce and Telecommunications, Amena Yauvoli said talks are still underway but everything is very much still confidential and he stated that he was not able to say more on the issue.

When Village News contacted Vodafone Managing Director, Aslam Khan he refused to comment.

Speaking to ATH Chief Executive Tomasi Vakatora said they are all bound by protocols for mediations that they have signed, to maintain their silence on negotiations.

The Interim Minister Waradi had earlier said that the Promulgation of the Communication bill has opened the market and the exclusive telecommunication license held with FINTEL, Telecom Fiji and Vodafone Fiji will be taken back subject to compensation.

Meanwhile, successful bidders for the mobile licenses will be announced at the beginning of the week.
