The Interim Government is now expected to decide which local company will enter into a joint venture with Chinese company Guanxi State Farms to set up two ethanol plants in the country.
At a press briefing at the FTIB this morning, Fiji's Ambassador to China, Sir James Ah Koy revealed that the company has been chosen to get the much talked about ethanol industry in Fiji off the ground.
Ah Koy revealed that they will make a presentation to the interim cabinet tomorrow on the matter. He also highlighted that the Company will enter into a deal with a company in partnership with the Native Land Trust Board.
He revealed that they have proposed to the NLTB to set up another company to enter the joint venture.
A site in the Northern Division has already been chosen to establish the first ethanol plant while sites in Navua, Naitasiri, Ra and Tailevu are being looked at for the second plant.
