The Interim government has received an offer of up to US$500 million for bilateral loan financing from one of the world's leading investment banks.

Three officials from Merill Lynch Asia Pacific Limited met with Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry this afternoon.

Chaudhry says the banking group believes that Fiji can take on additional funding to invest in projects to enhance economic welfare.

The bank has written to Chaudhry giving an offer for bilateral loan financing the interim government.

Chaudhry has replied saying that the interim government is pleased to have discussions on the proposed offer more particularly on the terms of the offer so as to assist the interim government.
