The Interim Government has promulgated the Telecommunications Bill which will allow new companies to operate in telecommunications sector.
Permanent Secretary for Communications, Amena Youvoli confirms that Cabinet met on Tuesday and decided to promulgate the bill.
According to Yauvoli the exclusive license held by Telecom Fiji, Vodafone Fiji and FINTEL will also be removed soon to allow room for new investors.
Yauvoli said the interim government is now ready to talk to the exclusive license holders about the compensation payout.
Amalgamated Telecom Holdings is expected to comment later.
