Interim Govt Is Moving Ahead-PM
In a statement, Commodore Bainimarama said the creation of the Team will ensure that the government not only oversees, but closely monitor and expedite the implementation of priority capital projects.
Bainimarama said past experience has shown that capital projects gets delayed, have cost over-runs and in some instance have setbacks such as abuses and mismanagement which results in the general public being denied the opportunity for development and continue to face social and economic hardships.
He said these delayed projects include the completion and operation of the Wairki Port, Kings Road upgrade, and construction of the new Naqali bridge repair storm damaged roads and bridges, relocation of the Navua hospital, dredging the Nadi and Rewa rivers and repair and maintenance of government hospitals and stations.
The Team will comprise five members appointed by the Interim Prime Minister in the form of a board.
