Two Interim Domestic Violence Restraining Orders have been issued to a man and his wife by Suva Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili today.
The man is facing one count each of indecently annoying a person, assault, damaging property and criminal intimidation.
His lawyer Samanunu Vaniqi made the bail application.
Divisional Prosecuting Officer Yunus Mohammed did not object to bail however he asked for strict conditions.
He asked for two sureties, the man not to approach witnesses, his travel documents to be surrendered in court, the man should not leave Fiji until the case is finished and an Interim Domestic Violence Restraining Order to be issued.
Vaniqi asked if his client can report at Nabua Police Station in the weekdays.
He has been released on a non-cash bail of $3,000, has to report to the Nabua Police Station every Wednesday and Friday and surrender travel documents in court.
The plea has been deferred and the man’s case will be called again on the 11th of August.
His wife has been charged with the act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
She was released on police bail on Saturday as she had to look after their three month old baby.
The 22-year-old woman is ordered to report to the nearest police station every Thursday.
Her travel documents have to be surrendered, the Immigration Department will be informed that she be put on the Stop Departure List and an Interim Domestic Violence Restraining Order has been issued.
The matter has been transferred to the High Court and will be heard on the 25th of July.
