The Interim Attorney General has today rubbished certain statements sent out by political parties saying that it is aimed at discrediting the work done by the inquiry team set up to investigate Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry.

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the statements sent out by the National Federation Party and Ousted Opposition Leader Mick Beddoes is not worth commenting on.

Both the National Federation Party and Ousted Opposition Leader have this afternoon said through a press statement that the head of the inquiry team Bruce Cowley is a partner of the law firm Minter Ellison in Brisbane. Both parties claim that the Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum worked for Mintor Ellison some years ago and this raises the question of independence of the inquiry team.

Sayed Khaiyum has defended this saying that he worked for Minter Ellison in Sydney while Bruce Cowley works for law firm in Brisbane.
