The Interim Attorney General is questioning the intentions of the Fiji Law Society President, Dorsami Naidu as he continues to allege that biased judgments are being delivered and the state is interfering in the judiciary.
Naidu has alleged that there was clear interference in the Judicial system by the state in incidents regarding Angie Heffernan's case, the deportation of newspaper executives Russel Hunter and Evan Hannah in relation to the manner in which court orders were ignored and ex-parte orders obtained by the State.
However Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said Sami himself has been ordered to pay court costs in the Heffernan case, and he failed to declare that while attacking the judges who have handled the case.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the Law Society President's comments are now getting out of hand.
Meanwhile Dorsami Naidu maintains that he will not pay the $28,000 in indemnity costs ordered against him by the High Court whilst he was representing PCPI's Angie Heffernan.
Naidu told Fijivillage news that he had called for the recusal of the Judges presiding over Heffernan's case which had ordered costs against him and Heffernan.
Naidu adds that if the Attorney General's Chambers want to recover the costs they should initiate legal action.
He also said that Saiyed-Khaiyum's comments that he should declare his interest is just baseless.
The High Court had ordered Angie Heffernan to pay court costs amounting to $60,000 and Naidu to pay a total $28,000 after a ruling stated that the cases brought by the two asking High Court Judges to recluse themselves from presiding over Heffernan's cases as baseless and frivolous.
