As the Fiji Pine replanting program continues, interest has grown from villages to be part of the initiative to utilise idle land.
Fiji Pine Ltd board member Ratu Jolame Lewanavanua said they have set a target of planting 1 million pine trees, and so far they have managed to plant 90,000 plants.
Lewanavanua added that as well as their replanting program their harvesting program is set to start within the next couple of weeks.
Lewanavanua said the harvesting will start once Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama returns from his trip to China and approves the winning tender application.
Government had earlier put out a tender process calling on interested companies willing to harvest pine plantations.
