The Fiji Higher Education Commission is calling on higher institutions to register with the commission before December this year.

Director Salote Rabuka said that the commission is governed by the Higher education promulgation 2008 which requires all higher institutions to seek recognition first and registration with the commission.

Rabuka said this is necessary so that the institutions are regulated to ensure they deliver quality education and training for students and particularly to meet the needs of the labour market and contribute to a sustainable development.

She said that the compulsory registration applies to all higher education institutions in the country.

There are a total of 75 known institutions in the country.
