The National Director Traffic Control will start an inquiry into the accident in Lami which claimed three lives over the weekend.

Director SSP Ramend Raj has confirmed that they have received reports from members of the public that the police team that went to take out the bodies from the wrecked car were not properly coordinated and also the fact that the police waited for the Fire officers to arrive at the scene before taking the bodies out.

SSP Ramend said they will also discuss the issue of police arriving at accident scene with proper gear.

Police have also claimed that they did not have the resources to cut the wreckage in order to take the bodies out.

The Director has also admitted that when police first arrived at the scene they thought that only the car driver was in the vehicle, however after searching police were able to locate the bodies of other two passengers.

A post-mortem will be conducted later today.
