The Independent Inquiry into the operations and administration of the Magistrates court in Fiji starts this week in Suva.

The Fiji Law Reform Commission has confirmed this afternoon that Inquiry Commissioner Judge Justice John Connors will start work tomorrow with submissions from the public.

It has also been confirmed that Justice Connors will make a statement before the inquiry gets underway.

Officials also confirm that 57 people have already registered to make submission and stress that only face to face submissions will be accepted as part of the Inquiry. The identity of those making submissions will be kept confidential.

The Inquiry starts at 8:30 on Wednesday.

The interim government called for an inquiry in attempts to weed out corruption, inefficiencies and other malpractices and make recommendations for the efficient and effective delivery of justice by the Magistrates courts.
