Injury concern for Fiji 7s team
Prop Jerry Burotu and rover Niumaia Cakacaka did not play from the quarterfinals of the Dubai 7s and it was felt heavily in the semifinal loss to New Zealand, where Fiji lost 3 of their own scrums and also missed a lot of tackles.
Coach Iliesa Tanivula is now hoping that they will be fit for the George tournament where Fiji is again in Pool B with Australia, Portugal and Russia and is likely to meet either Kenya or South Africa in the quarterfinals.
After the Dubai 7s yesterday, New Zealand leads the IRB 7s points series with 24 points while losing finalist Samoa is on 20 points, with Fiji and England on 16 points.
Coach Gordon Tietjens said they cannot take anything for granted in the South Africa 7s as all teams will be gunning to beat New Zealand.
The South Africa 7s will kick off on Friday.
