South Africa’s hopes of winning the HSBC Sevens World Series crown suffered a massive blow with the news that captain Kyle Brown was withdrawn as he has not fully recovered from the concussion sustained in Hong Kong.
Cecil Afrika will also miss the last two rounds in Glasgow and London following the groin injury he suffered in Hong Kong.
Mark Richards, who last played for the Springbok Sevens during the first round of the World Series in Gold Coast in Australia, replaces Afrika, and Shaun Adendorff comes in for Brown, while there is some good news for coach Neil Powell in that Chris Dry has recovered from injury.
South Africa is in the pool of death alongside, New Zealand, Samoa and Portugal.
Meanwhile the Scotland 7s kicks off this Saturday with the Vodafone Fiji 7s team playing Argentina at 9:30pm in their first pool match before taking on Kenya at 12:36am and Wales at 3:47am Sunday.
The quarter finals will be held at 10:58pm Sunday, semi finals at 2:58am Monday and the cup final at 5:50am Monday.
