Iniesta puts Spain on top of the World
With winning the FIFA World Cup for the first time, Spain has also become the only European nation to win outside its own continent.
In a game when a record number of yellow cards were given and John Heitinga was sent off in extra time, both sides missed great chances from Arjen Robben and Cesc Fabregas, but Andres Iniesta netted in the 116th minute to give European champions Spain their first FIFA World Cup title.
Netherlands players protested claiming that Iniesta was standing in an off side position when he scored the goal, but England Referee Howard Webb stood firm on his decision after consulting his assistant.
Both teams created numerous opportunities in the full 90 minutes however failed to score.
The match than went into extra time and Spain looked good in attack.
Iniesta finally broke the deadlock with minutes from the final whistle.
In a press conference after the match, Iniesta through a translator said this was their toughest match.
Meanwhile, people in Madrid are going crazy.

A total of 14 yellow cards were handed out in the match by referee Howard Webb which is the record for most ever in a FIFA World Cup Final.
Uruguay's Diego Forlan won the golden ball award after named the best player of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and Germany's Thomas Mueller grabbed the golden boot award for being tournaments top scorer.
Mueller scored five goals in the tournament.
