The Labasa Chamber of Commerce is optimistic that government will allocate funds for infrastructure developments in the Northern Division which is long overdue.
President, Ashok Karan said while government is trying to attract more investors in the Northern Division under the Look North Policy, infrastructure should be upgraded and developed first.
According to Karan the government should focus on revitalizing the Sugar and Rice Industry in the Northern Division.
He said the government, to prevent themselves from spending an unnecessary amount of money on importing rice, should focus more on local production and provides assistance to rice farmers in Bua.
The 2010 National Budget Announcement will be done by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama next Friday.
