Students will not be affected if repair works infested schools go beyond the first week of school in the second term.

These were the sentiments of Commissioner Western Joeli Cawaki during a briefing on the termite infestation to members of the Lautoka Chamber of Commerce yesterday.

While responding to queries on the resumption of school, Cawaki reassured members that the rehabilitation of schools was a top priority, adding the Taskforce is doing all it can to ensure that studies are not affected in any way.

He added that should the need arise, the Taskforce will set up temporary tents and shelters to cater for the students.

Ami Chandra Memorial School and Ahmadiya Primary School are two schools which have been adversely affected by the termite infestation.

Classrooms which had been infested by termites have been demolished as they were deemed unsuitable for the students.

Commissioner Cawaki has reiterated his call that there will be no interruption to studies when school resumes next week.
