Industrial threats being sounded
After revelations earlier today, that the Interim Cabinet has decided that it cannot confirm a timeline to restore the remaining 4% pay cut, Fiji Public Service Association General Secretary Rajeshwar Singh warns that the PSC is treading on dangerous grounds.
Permanent Secretary for PSC Taina Tagicakibau revealed earlier today that while the 1% pay cut to be restored on December 20th will be backdated to March 8th, it has been decided that any restoration of the remaining 4% will not be backdated and there is no timeline to restore the pay.
Meanwhile, Fiji Islands Council of Trade Union General Secretary Attar Singh said while their case regarding the 5% pay cut is now before the High Court, it proves their decision not sign an agreement with the interim government.
The PSC will now go back to cabinet to relay the unions stand on the decisions before further talks are expected between the PSC and the Unions.
