A member of the Electoral Commission for Fiji said the Indigenous people's rights will be protected under the new proposed Proportional Representation System.
Father David Arms said apart from the 1997 constitution, the proposed system has also been designed to protect the rights of the indigenous people.
Father Arms said the political parties will now have to meet and discuss the system.
Father Arms said the proposed proportional representation system will make voting and counting easier for Fiji.
He said the system is used worldwide and will make the Constitution Boundary Commission's work easier.
