An Indian national studying at a tertiary institution in the west is currently the Immigration Departments latest trafficking case.

This was highlighted by Director of Immigration at the recent Fiji Intelligence Unit conference on "Anti-money laundering" conference in Suva.

Major Nemani Vuniwaqa said they received a complaint from an Indian National on the 29th of September who was studying at a tertiary institution in Nadi that the expectations based on what his agent in India promised him did not eventuate.

Vuniwaqa added that the indian national was deceived into paying US$3500 as a student bond.

Police and Immigration Department are currently investigating the case.
