The Independent Monitoring Group for the People's Charter appointed by the President last week Friday began its work yesterday.

The three-member-team met with key stakeholders and the Secretariat of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.

The group chairperson, Geert Van der Linden, said they were honoured to be appointed to assist the President in the process of formulating the People's Charter. He said they hoped to give the President a short report by the end of the week and would request that the President make it public.

Van Der Linden, who is a Dutch national and renowned banker, is joined by Canberra-based diplomat and former international civil servant Robin Nair and Reverend Amy Chambers - the principal of Saint John Baptist College.

The Team will be present at the National Council for Building a Better Fiji meeting in Nasese today.
