Visitor arrivals for the month of February this year increased by 11.5 percent compared to last year with significant increases in visitor numbers from China and India over the same period.

Attorney General and Minister for Tourism Aiyaz Sayed-Khiayum revealed this afternoon that figures show that Australia and New Zealand remain out strongest market with Australian visitors increasing by 24.8% and New Zealand increasing by 20.9%.  

A total of 12,777 visitor from Australia and 10,239 New Zealanders came to our shores last month.

There was an increase of 111.2 percent in visitors from China and 124.4% increase in visitor numbers from India.

South Korean visitor numbers also went up by 44.3%, a 92% increase in number from Taiwan and 1.6% increase in visitors from Europe in the month of February.

There were decreases in number of visitors from USA by 6.8%, Canada by 13.4% and Japanese visitor numbers decreased by 48.5%.
