The Health Ministry said the decision to increase the fees of certain services provided by the hospitals, has been made taking into consideration the actual cost of providing health services.
This is after cabinet approved an increase in fees in the non essential category of health services, services provided to the paying ward and those referred by private general practitioners.
Dr Sharma however stressed that the increase is only for the paying wards.
Dr Sharma added the increase in fees has been long overdue.
The implementation date of these charges will be determined by the Health Minister.
