There are increasing concerns for the safety of girls and women from street crawlers, groups of men who prowl the streets at night in vehicles.

In an appeal ruling, High Court Judge Justice Jiten Singh raised serious concerns that women who walk around a city or anywhere else should be able to feel safe from the practice of street crawling, as these men go around in vehicles hassling women and acting like predators using force to subdue women.

He said there are increasing incidents of abduction and rape involving street crawlers.

Police Spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said they have been trying to curb and track down these street crawlers.
