The Fiji Council of Social Services has come out strongly saying that grants given to social service organization should be increased and channeled through the Prime Minister’s Office.
Speaking after their 2008 National Conference on Social Development, FCOSS Executive Director Hassan Khan said that presently the grants go through the Social Welfare Department which needs a thorough review.
Khan added that the delegates present at the conference believe that the Social Welfare Department lacks the expertise and intelligence to process projects and programmes rapidly, effectively and efficiently.
