Serious discussions are taking place with the Fiji Under 23 soccer players who will be playing in the Pacific Games as a lot will be at stake at this year’s games.

Fiji last won gold in the soccer competition in the 2003 Pacific Games which was held in Suva.

Head Coach Carlos Buzzetti says they are telling their players about the opportunity they have in front of them.

The soccer competition at the Pacific Games will also serve as the Olympic qualifier where the New Zealand Under 23 side will also be competing.

Fiji’s first pool match will be against Vanuatu at 4pm next Friday.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Under 23 soccer team will play the Wellington Phoenix Premiers at 2.30pm this Saturday at the ANZ stadium and this match will serve as a build up to the Pacific Games.
