Implement Recommendations
FLP President Jokapeci Koroi confirms that the FLP Board has endorsed that the interim government should implement the recommendations in the Fiji Human Rights Commission report on the 2006 General Elections.
The FLP also believes that the 32 recommendations made in the report must be implemented to ensure a genuinely free and fair election, which include the simplifying of the ballot paper, and to review the electoral arrangements to move from a majority of communal seats to open seats.
The Labour Party also said that the Electoral Act must be tightened to prevent against electoral fraud and vote rigging.
Koroi said the FLP Board also endorsed the Media Inquiry report by Dr. James Anthony which will be further discussed at their delegates meeting.
The FLP also endorsed that it will not engage in political dialogue with the Commonwealth as they believe it is now too late for this.
Koroi said they believe that due to a number of developments in our political landscape, such dialogue would be meaningless.
