The Immigration Department and Police are searching for citizens of other countries who are living in the country illegally.
Director Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa said they are working on information provided by the 13 Indian nationals who have been in Fiji illegally and who remain in custody at the Korovou Prison.
The Immigration and Customs Departments are trying to ascertain whether any of its staff are directly involved in the human trafficking scam.
Passports obtained from the Indian nationals are stamped to show that they have travelled in and out of Fiji, when in fact they have been staying in Fiji all this time.
Director Customs Jala Ud Dead said they are also investigating whether any of the primary line staff, who are responsible to stamp visa's on arrival and departure, are involved.
These 13 Indian nationals were allegedly brought into Fiji by a local company about eight months ago after they were promised employment in Fiji, Australia and New Zealand.
Meanwhile, a Fijian caregiver in New Zealand is facing deportation in a week's time as Immigration in New Zealand has turned down her application for an extension of her working permit.
Sunita Khan who has been working in Wellington for the past two years, was told by Immigration bosses that her visa was not being renewed as there were many other New Zealanders who were looking for the same job.
Khan said it is very sad that this is happening to her.
Immigration boss Andrew Annakin said care giving is not included in the skills list as it is a trainable occupation.
Khan's two children along with her husband have been told to leave the country by the 21st of this month.
