The Immigration Department is working on improving its systems so that they are able to detect illegal immigrants in Fiji.
Director Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa said at this stage they are not able to detect people who are in the country illegally or are in the country legally but are engaged in activities that they are not supposed to be.
Vuniwaqa said they have already met with the stakeholders.
Meanwhile, 56 people from various different countries were deported to their country last year, with most people being deported to China.
