Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has confirmed that he is not vying for the president or vice-president's positions.

Bainimarama's statement follows comments by some political commentators that Bainimarama's comments in Nadoi, Rewa, last week is an indication that he will declare himself president, as on December 5th 2006, if the GCC does not have a quorum.

While speaking in Fijian to our sister radio station Viti FM, Bainimarama said he will not do such a thing and he is not hungry for power.

He reiterated that the main reason the military took over the government is not just to take up high government posts, but to eradicate corruption.

Bainimarama said the main reason the interim administration is pushing for the GCC to sit, is to assist President Ratu Josefa Iloilo.
