There is a lot of illegal dumping in relation to household rubbish.
This is according to senior environmental officer Lusiana Ralogaivau as the department identified improper rubbish disposals by businesses and households and its detrimental effects on the environment as a concern.
Ralogaivau said that they are addressing this with legislations.
She added that people need to sort their rubbish before disposing it the proper way and can always seek advice from the department on recycling and disposal methods.
