Samoa are back in the headlines after frustrations boiled over following their controversial match against South Africa on Friday night and resulted in social media attacks on the International Rugby Board.

The IRB yesterday confirmed it would be looking into the strong criticism leveled on Twitter by Samoan star Eliota Fuimaono Sapolu.

The second five eighth had already been twice cautioned for attacks on the IRB via Twitter earlier in the tournament but could not contain his anger following Samoa’s heart breaking 13-5 loss to defending World Cup champions South Africa.

The Samoans were fined $10,000 by the IRB after a player wore a non authorized mouth guard, and it now seems likely that amount will be added to.

The result saw them eliminated from the tournament with two wins and two defeats, but it was only afterwards that the emotions started to pour out.
