The International Rugby Board (IRB) is confident that the Development Programme for referees in Fiji is progressing well and they expect to see more Fijian referees in the international arena.
Speaking to Fijivillage, IRB Pacific Manager William Glenwright has congratulated the performance of the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) on the development of referees over the past 6 months and is adamant that more locals will officiate in international games soon.
Two local referees namely James Bolabiu and Napolioni Locoloco have made a name for themselves in the international arena.
Bolabiu has officiated in the IRB 7s Series, Tri-Nations tournament, Pacific Rugby Cup, Rugby 7s World Cup, IRB Pacific Nations Cup and later this year at the Junior World Cup in Japan.
Locoloco on the other hand has officiated at the recent IRB 7s series.
