The report of the International Labour Organization delegation that was in the country last week has been presented to ILO’s Director General in Geneva last night.
ILO Country Office Director David Lamotte said the delegation left on Saturday after a series of meetings with government officials, Trade Unionists and various stakeholders.
Lamotte said the report on the country’s compliance with the ILO conventions will then be judged by International standards.
Lamotte said they have assessed the Essential National Industries Decree and other steps taken where the civil servants do not fall under the Employment Relations Promulgation.
The head of the ILO delegation, Guy Ryder has made similar comments after leaving Fiji.
