The interim government has agreed to assist bus operators in light of the sharp increase in fuel prices in the recent months.

Minister of Finance Mahendra Chaudhry will meet with the Bus Operators Association this Sunday to finalize the assistance package.

Chaudhry said this package is intended to help the bus operators cushion the burden of the rising fuel prices and hopes it will result in bus fares being contained to the present levels.

Chaudhry added this is another measure which the government is taking to alleviate the difficulties brought about by the global rise in fuel prices.

He has already conveyed the interim government's intentions to the president of the Fiji Bus Operators Association, Pyara Singh.
