The Suva City Council claimed that a financing and investment company, willing to provide millions of dollars for the development of the Suva foreshore, has been stopped by the interim government.
Mayor Ratu Peni Volavola claimed that their plans to develop the Suva foreshore is now on hold indefinitely and they have not been told why their financier has been blocked from investing in Fiji.
Volavola also claimed that other development projects in the Suva area are also on hold due to the directive from the Ministry.
However, Interim Minister for Local Government Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi said claims that the Ministry is deliberately hindering development in the Suva area are baseless. He said Volavola is making numerous allegations and he will have to look into the issues further before making any comments.
