Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama said that the Opposition Leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa should realize that her own narrow-minded views are not shared by the vast majority of Itaukei who want a fair go for every Fijian.
While opening a new eight classroom block at Nasinu Muslim Primary School, Bainimarama revealed that he listened to a talkback on our sister station, Viti FM yesterday which discussed the issue about the government school boarding policy.
He said it was clear that the ordinary people are not caught up with the issue of ethnicity.
Bainimarama also pledged before the Nasinu Muslim Primary School students, teachers and other guests that he will never yield to the forces of division.
He said the Nasinu school has come a long way from its humble beginnings when it opened back in 1959.
Bainimarama said back then, the school had four classrooms housed in a building with a corrugated iron roof, bamboo thatched walls and a wooden floor.
There was only one tap to supply water to the entire school which had a roll of 91 students.
The Prime Minister thanked the Muslim League and the Islamic Development Bank for their generosity in providing the investment of $670,000 towards the future of the children in Nasinu.
He said it is wonderful to see so many children of different faiths benefitting from the opportunities the Muslim community is providing to improve education and to improve the lives of everyone.
