The Hurricanes have topped the Super Rugby standings after the Lions collapsed to defeat against the Jaguares in Argentina.

Only needing a losing bonus point to finish as top seeds, the Lions coughed up a big lead to be defeated 34‑22 by the Argentinians.

That means the Hurricanes will host the Sharks next week, while the Crusaders will have to travel to South Africa to take on the Lions.

Also on a plane to Africa will be the Chiefs, taking on the Stormers, while the Highlanders head to Canberra to take on the Brumbies.

Given the dominance of New Zealand sides, it throws up the very real possibility that four New Zealand sides could make the Super Rugby semifinals with wins in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the last round of the Super Rugby matches saw Hurricanes defeat the Crusaders 35-10, the Highlanders defeated the Chiefs 25-15, the Brumbies beat the Force 24-10, the Stormers thrashed the Kings 52-24, the Bulls beat the Cheetahs 43-17.
