The Hurricanes will have to end a five-year losing streak against the Brumbies if they hope to book a place in their first Super Rugby final since 2006.
After such a dominant season, it’s easy to forget that this Hurricanes side is in unchartered waters.
The franchise’s last semifinal appearance came six years ago and there are just four survivors from the team that lost to the Chiefs in 2009, one of five semifinal defeats in the Wellington team’s unhappy history in knockout rugby.
However, the Hurricanes have without doubt been the best team in the competition this year.
The Hurricanes play the Brumbies at 7.35 tonight while the Waratahs play the Highlanders at 9.40pm.
